D.C. Metro Re-opens

Isn’t it ironic that before you go on a vacation or a work trip somewhere, you hear horror stories or accidents that have occurred in your destination?

Granted it may not always happen - but just occasionally, it does. Things are no different for my upcoming trip to the Nation’s capital.

Yesterday, the Washington, D.C. metro’s “Orange Line” de-railed, leaving approximately 400 passengers feeling quite helpless.

The derailment caused major backups and delays of up to an hour on Metro’s second-busiest line just before the Monday afternoon rush, and problems persisted into the evening. There were no reports of injuries, but a pregnant passenger was sent to a hospital for observation, Metro officials said. Metro used a rescue train to evacuate 412 passengers from the derailed train, including a man in a wheelchair, officials said.

Now this just gives me a warm-and-fuzzy all over. Granted, my trip is going to be a “flying” one (pardon the pun) - leaving here Monday morning, arriving there Monday afternoon, and then leaving there immediately after my meeting on Tuesday morning. But still, I’ll be using the grandiose metro of D.C. from the airport to the hotel (my hotel is actually one block off the green line). I just hope nothing happens to the yellow or green lines!

Changing Colors

As you might have already noticed, I took some liberty this morning with changing a few of the current theme’s colors. Now I need some honest critique. Feel free to post your comments regarding the color motif, and please leave any (constructive) criticism you feel is warranted! I wanna know! Thank you in advance, and have a great day!

This weekend I plan on starting the development of my own theme. So if you are a web designer and wish to give me some advice or help out with the theme (I’ll be willing to throw a little cash your way), I will really appreciate it!

Obama Wins the Nomination

So, Barack Hussein Obama has done it. He has beat Hillary Rodham Clinton and has become the Democratic presidential candidate. All I can say is – It’s about time the primaries are over.
I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of politics. I am burned out on seeing politicians make promises they can’t and won’t keep. I am tired of the back-biting and back-stabbing. I am sick of the candidates’ faces being flashed on the news every 30 seconds.

Now, the Chicago Tribune has a list of five reasons HRC lost:

Her campaign was too corporate.
She didn’t recognize the threat.
She invested heavily in Iowa.
She had no coherent post-Super Tuesday plan.
She failed to connect with African-American voters.

That makes sense. They left out one, though. She was caught lying about past events. They also have a list of five reasons BHO won and a list of five differences between BHO and JSM. But now I want to give you my list of five things we look forward to with Barack Hussein Obama, if he wins in November:

Higher taxes. He will raise taxes across the board.
Less national defense and less national security. He has said he will cut defense spending and get rid of missile defense systems, which could prove as a necessary deterrent in the future.
More illegal immigration and amnesty for illegal aliens. He will institute amnesty for the illegals here and will do nothing to stop the flow over our Southern border.
Higher national budget deficit. His universal healthcare program will alone bankrupt the system.
More terrorist attacks on U.S. holdings. His “national defense policy” - if you can call it that - of “talking” to hostile regimes (i.e. Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc.) with no preconditions will embolden the terrorists, make him appear weak, and pave the way for him to become the next Neville Chamberlain. (If you don’t know who that is, look up your World War II history.)

Get ready, folks. It is coming if he wins in November. Our country will no longer be the greatest nation in the world. It will become the laughing stock of the globe.

New Beginnings?

I’m sure you all are familiar with the little desk calendars with the sheets that tear off each day as it passes. Well, my morning work routine is simple. I come in, boot up my computer and laptop, and tear off the previous day’s sheet. My calendar contains famous quotes with nice background pictures. Today’s entry is simply:

“Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”

Now I’m sure that the calendar makers did that one on purpose, seeing as it is June 2^nd and half the year is already over. Or could it be Providence?

I believe it could be God’s way of slapping me across the face – especially when I need it. Lately I have become somewhat lazy in my approach to everyday life. I don’t know why I have, I just have. And I don’t like it…at…all.

So today I am pledging this – and I want you all to hold me accountable. I am starting over. I am going to get back to the place I need to be (with God’s help). It’s going to be hard, but it will be a change for the good.
