Changing Colors

As you might have already noticed, I took some liberty this morning with changing a few of the current theme’s colors.  Now I need some honest critique.  Feel free to post your comments regarding the color motif, and please leave any (constructive) criticism you feel is warranted!  I wanna know!  Thank you in advance, and have a great day!

This weekend I plan on starting the development of my own theme.  So if you are a web designer and wish to give me some advice or help out with the theme (I’ll be willing to throw a little cash your way), I will really appreciate it!

Calling all Port City Bloggers, Part II

Since I received some positive response in my previous post, I have decided to register the domain http://portcitybloggers.com.

I am in the process of building the site; If anyone in the Mobile Area would like to be a contributor please let me know.  I am looking forward to building and developing this site.  I truly believe the Mobile area could benefit from this.

Oh, and I’ve already received a very positive e-mail from a food writer here.  Visit his blog at Azalea City!

Calling all Port City bloggers!

I am in a quandary.  There is a project I want to do, but I’m afraid of it falling flat on its nose.  I’m wondering if a community site - like Music City Bloggers - would work for the area in which I live.  Mobile, Alabama, is only a thirty minute drive from my house.  I guess you could say I live in Suburbia Mobile (but in Mississippi).  I am wondering - how many Mobile bloggers are out there?

If you’re out there and would like to be a part of something (not quite) unique, post a comment or e-mail me.  I would really like to know if there’s anyone else out there like me in the Port City…

Software Review - Witty 0.1.7 Beta 1

Article corrected on April 7, 2008

I am a creature of habit.  I like to be able to do things without having a browser open.  I don’t know why, I just don’t like writing in a browser (I’m currently using Windows Live Writer to write this post).  Yeah, I know - I’m odd.

At any rate, I was searching the ‘Net looking for a software client that I could use to tweet.  Well, I found two - Twitteroo and Witty.  Twitteroo is a light software that really doesn’t allow you to do much other than receive updates and post your tweets.

Now Witty on the other hand - wow I’m impressed!  It has the ability to not only allow you to tweet and receive tweets, but you can change the skin (between Cool Blue and Aero).  It also comes with a search function.

You can also adjust the time between updates - anywhere from 0 minutes to 30 minutes.  It comes with check boxes under ‘Options’ that allows you to enable/disable sounds and minimize to the system tray.

There is also a toolbar at the top which allows you to switch between your posts (User), you and your friends’ posts (Recent), direct messages (Messages), and replies.  It’s a little slow on switching, so you have to be a little patient (it is a beta, after all.)

This software has great potential, and I can’t wait to see what comes out in the updates.  Oh yeah, did I mention it’s put out hosted by Google code?  Go check it out - I promise you’ll like it!

It’s back!

If you visited last night or early this morning, you may have noticed that this blog was pretty much non-existent.  That’s because I accidentally deleted the MySQL database.   As a result, all my posts, comments, links, blog settings, etc. were gone.

Well, after doing a little bit of research, I was able to locate a backup and upload the database file.  Now the blog is restored!  (okay, maybe not fully…but mostly!)

I’m just happy I was able to get my old posts back (and comments!).

But I’m curious - have any of you ever done that, or am I the only dunce out there (not that you’re a dunce!)?

If I’m not here…

I’m here. Come on over and check it out!! I’ve just started using a new blogging platform, and so far I’m really getting into it. Eventually I want this new site to be even more popular than this blog!

So drop by, register, and leave me a comment and suggestions.

“On the blog again…”

I’m uh…tinkering with my blog again.  I changed from Movable Type to Textpattern to Nucleus to Textpattern again to Movable Type again…*SIGH*  Now I’m back with Wordpress.  I just couldn’t find anything that made me as happy as WP.  I just love it.  Plugins and themes are extremely easy to add and modify.  And I believe I’m not alone.  I have been on Wordpress now going on…uh, how long?  8 months?  Before that I used Typepad (which wasn’t too bad).

I don’t think I’ll be changing it again anytime soon.

A hunka lota linky love

Mr. Kassper over at Making Money Online is holding a contest:  one in which a blogger will receive 50+ links for just linking to his site twice.  2 for 50 - sounds like a great deal to me!

My favorite post on his site is Improve Alexa Ranking with Alexa Toolbar for Firefox.  Now since I’m a big Firefox user, this really appealed to me.  I advise you to go over and check his site out!  It’s very informative and user-friendly.

So go over there and start gettin’ da “linky love”!

New theme!

I have been playing with new wordpress themes the past couple of days, and I think I’ve finally settled on one.  It’s called “i3-center”, and I just happen to like the aquamarine background.

 So, what do you think?

Wii gives Xbox a run for its money

First the Playstation 3, now the Xbox.  According to InsideBayArea.com:

MICROSOFT CORP. plans to cut the price of its Xbox 360 game console to compete with Nintendo Co.’s top-selling Wii.

Microsoft needs to lower Xbox’s prices, ranging from $299 to $479, to increase sales and lure customers who aren’t interested in traditional combat and racing video games, Shane Kim, vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said in an interview.

Earlier this week, Sony announced to cut the Playstation 3’s cost from $599 to $499, due to more sales of the Nintendo Wii.  Now, it appears that the Playstation 3 is not the only one with a “Wii bit of competition”.

Microsoft does not say what they are going to cut the prices to, only that they’ll have to cut them before the holiday season.
