A Pound of Thoughts

Last week, I read this article on Fox News’ website. It outraged me so much, that I did something I have never done before – I e-mailed the subject of the article, Mr. Norman Finkelstein. Here’s what I wrote:

Well, much to my surprise, he posted this e-mail on his website! I wasn’t the only one that e-mailed him because of the article, but I was one of the “nicer” ones. If the article outrages you like it does me, send him a NastyGram (but be nice!). He deserves to know that there are patriotic Americans out there that love our country and love Israel.

How can someone whose own parents suffered terror support a terrorist group? It just boggles my mind.

I think I might start using that phrase whenever I feel like crap.  Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?  I wish I could take credit for it.  However, Yahoo! beat me to it:

This particular Monday has sucked so far.  I’ve been hair-on-the-top-of-my-head deep in computer models today.  The only time I looked up from the computer was to go to the bathroom and to heat up my one slice of peezzza for lunch.  Other than those (three or four) times, I’ve been “nose to the grindstone”.

I am really looking forward to tonight.  Prison Break comes back from a two-week break, and I have absolutely nothing to do when I get home (as far as I am aware).  Oh, if only 24 was showing on television!

Here’s some rather depressing news that came out over this past weekend:

• Gulf Coast man runs over and kills brother with Mardi Gras float

Okay, that’s enough!  Can’t there ever be any good news??

Wait…I did find one good-news story:  Missing California skiers found alive!!

What is with these women??

A Biloxi teacher, who was suspended after sexual battery charges were filed against her, admitted to police she had sexual relations with the 15-year-old, according to court documents provided by the county attorney. In one communication she called the juvenile her little “sex fiend.”

 This teacher’s name is Rebecca Dawn Bogard, 27 years old, and she was a teacher at the Biloxi alternative high school.  She so befriended the student that the mother allowed her to take him Christmas shopping.  To read the full story, click here.

 My question is this:  Where was the mother?  In my opinion, partial blame should also be placed on her to allow the teacher unneccessary access to her son.  The teacher should never have been allowed to take the boy Christmas shopping nor allowed to buy him a second cell phone.  She should have nipped it in the bud.  Maybe it’s easier said than done, I don’t know.  I’m not a parent yet.  But still:  it seems like this could have been avoided.

This story just disturbs me, and if it proves to be true, proves another reason to be super-cautious when using the internet. Full story here:

Police in Minnesota say an online ad may have cost a young woman her life.

They say Katherine Olson was last seen by friends when she went to meet someone about a nanny job posted on Craigslist.org, the Internet bulletin board.

Where they found her is really disturbing.

A day later, her body was found in her car at a Minnesota nature preserve. Police declined to say how the 24-year-old was killed.

But, the authorities do have someone in custody:

Authorities say a 19-year-old man who they believe placed the ad is being held pending charges. Authorities did not release his name but said charges could be filed as soon as today.

The Observer quoted one boy identified only as Jivaj as saying that child employees who cried or did not work hard enough were hit with a rubber pipe or had oily cloths stuffed into their mouths. The paper said the sweatshop, or “derelict industrial unit,” that it found during its investigation in New Delhi was “smeared in filth, the corridors flowing with excrement from a flooded toilet.” The Observer printed a photograph of one of the child workers, and British Broadcasting Corp. television broadcast what it said was footage of the youngsters taken at the sweatshop by an unidentified German TV crew.

Now this just ticks me off big-time. It seems that a corporation as big as Gap is wouldn’t have to resort to such means to produce top-quality clothing. Of course, I don’t buy from them. But if I did, I would boycott them instantly. I thought the main reason corporations outsourced to India was to take advantage of the high-intellect individuals out there?! (Or is that just naivety?) Well, it seems that they only outsource to India to get their products made as cheaply as possible. (Of course you already knew that.)

Now we all know how cheap.

Today on the way home from work I witnessed the epitome of the idiocy that is plaguing our country.  Let me set the scene for you.

The road to my house from where I work is a four-lane highway.  I was in the right northbound lane.  There is a stop light, and on the right side of the road is a McDonald’s.  So, I decided to stop there and get some supper.  (Yes, I know…not very healthy.) 

Keep in mind that at this stop light you have to turn right to get to the McD’s.  The light turns red, and I prepare to stop.  By the way - Here’s the lane layout:  left turn lane, left NB, and right NB - NO right turn lane!  But, there is a wide shoulder.  As I look to the right and start my turn, one car comes flying by me on the shoulder (turning right) and another car stops right beside me at the light ON THE SHOULDER!  I look at the driver, he looks back at me, and I proceed turning right.

I turn left on the service road, then turn right into the McDonald’s and get in the drive-thru line.  As I am doing this, I notice in my rear-view mirror that a car eerily similar to the one who stopped by me at the light (on the shoulder) was behind me.  As I stop in the drive-thru, a horn honks.  It’s the idiot driver, all right.  He drives by me with the “special” number one sign held up, mouthing f*** you…and on the back bumper I noticed a bumper sticker that said “Aryan”.

I’ve always wondered what possesses people, when they see a wide shoulder, to drive on it.  (IT’S FOR EMERGENCIES, PEOPLE!!!!)  Unfortunately “Neo-Nazi” didn’t stick around for me to ask him.  He must of noticed that I didn’t even flinch as he was telling me I was “number one”.  Let’s just say that I was ready to…well, I need to keep this a “G” blog, so I won’t go there.  I’ll just leave it to your imagination.

Now this story is of the bizarre…How would you like to be awakened like this woman was?

Two pit bull terriers broke into a house through a pet door Tuesday and attacked a woman in her bed, mauling her badly, a Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman said.

The woman was able to grab a gun and try to shoot the dogs, then break away from the attack and lock herself in her car, where she called 911, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a hospital in Tacoma, where she was listed in serious condition.

Officers planned to talk to the dogs’ owner.

I’m sure these pit bulls will not be alive much longer.  And in my humble opinion, all pit bulls should be destroyed because of their genetic predisposition for violence.  What do you think?

Remember when I told you about the Saucier, Mississippi couple killed on their motorcycle by an illegal immigrant? Now there’s more to the story than what I initially told you here and here.

An illegal immigrant accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash faces an upgraded charge if a blood sample shows he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when a Saucier couple was killed.

Raymoundo Rojas Garcia, accused in the June 24 crash that killed a couple riding a motorcycle, remains in custody on an immigrations hold pending resolution of charges in the deaths of Wayne and Michelle Hughes. A blood sample taken from Garcia after the crash has been sent to a crime lab, according to testimony at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Apparently the loser inmigrante ilegal, otherwise known as a cabrón was driving under the influence…Go figure.  (Doesn’t really surprise me, and it shouldn’t surprise you, either.)

The girl, who was slightly injured in the crash, is now charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. Duck said she sideswiped another vehicle during the roughly 8-mile chase

She said she was going to pick up her sister from a concert. She flipped the car just inside the Gulf Shores city limits. Normally, I wouldn’t write a post about this because it’s so commonplace for this to happen in Gulf Shores. But, there’s just one thing that makes this case unique.

The girl…was 11 years old.

I have just one question - where, oh where, in the whole wide world was this girl’s parents???

These stories just keep mounting up.  Driving into work this morning, I was listening to “Gulf Coast Mornings” on our local Fox News Talk Radio station.  Then they broke this story.  Totally tragic.  When is our country going to wake up?

Per Sun Herald:

A Vancleave man, grappling with a potentially failed marriage, stabbed his wife to death early Tuesday morning, then plunged 10 stories to his death from atop the IP casino parking garage.

Witnesses report seeing the mangled body of Manuel Sandoval, 32, on the sidewalk at 5:30 a.m., a suicide note crammed in his pocket. Two hours later Jackson County officials found the body of his wife, Samantha Thomason, in a bed in the couple’s mobile home at the corner of Southern Pine and Western roads in Vancleave.

To top it all off, he is an illegal alien.  And another thing:  he was a “contractor” per the above-linked report.  How on God’s green earth could he get a job as a contractor without the proper credentials??  Amazing.  Just amazing.

Apparently, the reason he killed her was she was leaving him.  He allowed some of his Mexican buddies to move in, and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.  When she came by to pick up her belongings, he killed her.

This may sound cold, but at least we taxpayers don’t have to pay for criminal trial proceedings as well as deportation proceedings.  At least he spared us that expense.  I just grieve for the poor girl’s family.

They need to find out who his employer was and charge them to the nth degree for violating immigration laws…Oops, I’m sorry guys, I forgot.  They don’t do that here in this country…
