WordCamp Dallas 2008 - The Last Meal
To get home relatively early on Sunday night, my Dad and I (he was my co-pilot during the trip) had to leave at lunchtime from the seminar. I hated missing the rest of the presentations - especially Chris Smith and the “SEO for Bloggers”. That is one that I was looking forward to. Maybe I can find it on UStream later on.
We decided that Tex-Mex would be the way to go to finish out our trip to Dallas. So, we found On the Border on Northwest Highway in Mesquite and decided to eat there.
We both ordered Ranchiladas: zesty ranchero steak topped with Monterey Jack cheese and enchiladas.
Here’s what it looked like when the waiter first brought it:
And here’s what it looked like after I got done with it:
I couldn’t finish it all, as you can see. I was completely stuffed. I also wanted to capture the ambience of the restaurant, so I decided I would record a little video. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out very well. The restaurant was too loud - a combination of the old school 80’s rock and some very loud, boisterous people rendered it useless…Oh well, such is life.
At any rate, I enjoyed myself very much at WordCamp, and I was able to meet some nice folks such as Michelle Greer, Andy Skelton, Charles Stricklin and Aaron Brazell. I also met some people from Toronto, such as Mathieu Yuill. Being quite an amateur blogger, it was very inspiring to be able to be in the same room as some of the pioneers of the blogging industry.
Maybe one day I can be as good as they are.

Ping! Ya got me.
You didn’t miss anything in the SEO panel. It was pretty boring. Basically, blog about timely stuff that gets picked up, and leave link bait. I’ve seen really crappy bloggers get picked up just by saying something controversial so other bloggers would link to it. That’s when I like to call them out in the comments section :D.
Anyway, I’m glad you had a good time. It was nice to meet you. I took some video of ma.tt and put it here if you want to see it:
