Morning Contemplations

I am not able to go to sleep yet this morning.  I don’t know what it is.  For some reason, I want to stay up all night.  Here it is, 3:25 on a Sunday morning, and I quite awake.  I have been pretty useless this weekend.  I haven’t done a thing.  I guess I’m preparing for the fact that next weekend I will once again be out on the Gulf on a job-related trip.  Eleven straight days of going to work, starting Monday.  Oh what joy!  (But hey, a little extra pay didn’t hurt anyone I suppose.)

Actually I feeling quite sleepy now.  I guess the caffeine from the (hot) tea I drank earlier is wearing off.  But it has been an enjoyable day.  I was able to experience camaraderie from chaps thousands of miles away in an online game.  I doubt I’m making much sense right about now.  But hey, what’s blogging about if you can’t blog about nothing every once in a while?

Maybe tomorrow (or later today, for that matter) I’ll have something a little more worth writing about.  For now, sleep well, stay safe, and God bless.  Gute nacht!

Man Drinks Himself to Death

This is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard.  A 35-year-old man from Great Britain drank himself to death - but not with alcohol.  He did it with water:

An investigation into how Shaun McNamara died revealed that he drank himself to death after consuming too much water. His body was found on the floor of his bathroom last September. At first, doctors thought McNamara had suffered a heart attack. It was not until an autopsy revealed that he had downed so much fluid, so fast, that his brain had swollen, the Mail reported.

I had never heard of water intoxication until a lady from California drank herself to death during a radio contest.  I’m just wondering why or how this poor man drank too much water.

You can go here to read more in the Daily Mail article.  For more on water intoxication, go here.
