A Pound of Thoughts

A local couple, from Saucier, Mississippi, was killed Sunday in an accident involving their motorcycle and a red Chevrolet pickup.  Here’s a quote from a local newspaper, The Sun Herald:

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Wayne Hughes, 45, and wife Michelle Hughes, 48, died shortly after the red Chevrolet pickup that Raymundo Rojas Garcia, 27, was driving pulled out in front of the couple’s Suzuki motorcycle headed north on 49 just before noon Sunday.

Garcia, a witness said, jumped out of his truck and ran off with his passenger and child in tow before authorities captured him minutes later about a block from the accident scene. Gulfport police later charged Garcia with felony leaving the scene of an accident causing deaths. Bond was set at $50,000.

Wayne Hughes tried to avoid hitting Garcia’s pickup, a witness said, but didn’t have time to get out of the way.

Garcia was headed south on 49 and attempting to make a left turn in front of oncoming northbound traffic when the crash happened at 11:32 a.m.

Now the accident remains under investigation.  Hmm…check that name for a second…Raymundo Rojas Garcia.  Anything stand out to you about it?  No?  How about it being a hispanic name?  Now, I don’t want to speculate, but due to the influx of immigrants to our area (per the same newspaper, 15,000 before Katrina vs. 50,000 after Katrina), I would dare say this guy was an illegal alien.  Probably driving without a drivers’ license, too.  Why else would he flee with “passenger and child in tow”?

Man, no insurance, no driver’s license, and no tag…smells like an illegal alien to me.
